Sarangerel of the Tumet
Under The Moonlight
Prudent shinobi, quiet observer, self-proclaimed "Most Okay Baker in Eorzea."
Sarangerel has been journeying Eorzea for scarcely a year, honing her skills in both the shadow and healing arts. As of late, the whole "lone mercenary in a foreign land" situation is getting to her head...
Pronouns: She/Her
Age: 22
Nameday: 12th Sun of the 5th Astral Moon
Height: 4'10"

She is a trans woman who had the good fortune of access to Alchemical Estrogen at 14 years old + short height genetics.
Bashful, perceptive, courteous, sweet with a mischievous streak.
Hobbies are watercolor painting, cooking and baking, trying to learn astromancy, and perusing the Market Board
Dislikes hot weather, stuffy noblefolk, poor manners, and disrespectful nonbelievers
Someone who blends in easily, Sarangerel likes to observe her surrounding company before speaking. On the surface, she may seem uninterested in speaking to others around her. However, this couldn't be further from the truth; Sarangerel aches for someone to converse, go fishing, adventure through cities with. She simply lacks the confidence to reach out for this connection.Just know that her quiet demeanor may give way to a cheeky, personable soul once she is comfortable. If you're caught off guard by how someone so soft spoken can have a coy side; good. All the better for her to gently tease you for.
Though she was not born so, Sarangerel is of the Tumet tribe, and lived on the Steppe with her people until age 15.
She found herself hungering to learn more about the world and left in the middle of the night, not telling a soul about her plans. Though it has been years since she set out, Sarangerel still feels immense guilt and shame for her sudden disappearance. Why didn't she say her goodbyes before leaving?
The young woman simply walked towards the east, with only some prepared belongings and a general direction. She ended up in a small village in the mountains of Yanxia, where she begged an exiled Hingan shinobi to train her in the art of shadows. At the age of 18, her now-master urged her to gain field experience in Kugane.
What happened from there is a whirlwind of events: a long journey on a fishing boat, the first sight of Hingashi, cheap drinks paid in favors, shinobi missions, and the joy of freedom.
"The children of the Tumet, upon seeing their tenth summer, are tied to a sacred tree while the remainder of the tribe packs up and moves to their next location. Those children who manage to break free from their bonds and catch up with the tribe at that next location, are given a name and allowed into the tribe."
Also this totally isn't canon but I personally imagine the Tumet's signature color to be Ink Blue!
Hook Ideas:
Matcha, Extra Strong: Sarangerel worked as a hostess in a handful of Kugane bath and teahouses from age 19 to 21. Though not the best at buttering up customers, she proved herself to be a caring listener and precise tea server, one that might stick out in a past customer's mind.
Children of the Steppe: Canon lore on the Tumet is scarce to nonexistent. Personally, I choose to believe they are fierce hunters yet relatively peaceful and cooperative when not threatened. Perhaps your tribal Xaela has sought the allyship of the Tumet during the Naadam?
That Looked Like It Hurt...: Sarangerel is drawn to public events like performances, wrestling matches, and artist gatherings. She is quite likely to stay to herself, but if you introduce yourself and ask for a portrait, she won't deny you. Her favorite events to attend are fight nights, which may be surprising given her calm demeanor.
Hangry for Home Cooking: Need a large amount of Steppe or Hingan food for an event you're hosting? Maybe you've heard of this Xaela woman who caters out of her own kitchen? Feel free to seek Sarangerel out for her culinary services. Just... make sure you give her warning in advance. She's also more than happy to give simple advice on, say, cooking wild game over a campfire.
"Midnight. The Rooftop. Bring Backup": Food, lodging, and new kunai don't pay for themselves. Sarangerel lends her talents to clients, whether said talent is gathering secret information, stealing a valuable item, or eliminating a target. Granted, the ninja can't always complete missions on her lonesome.
Anything else!! I'm super new to this and am open to all suggestions.
As of June 26th 2023 I have not RPed in-game yet. I have prior experience with collaborative writing, just not in the format of FFXIV RP. Patience and advice is greatly appreciated!
I find rude, flirtatious, and otherwise strong personalities are fun to write with, especially interacting with a more laid-back character. Sarangerel is unfortunately drawn to standoffish people, to her own downfall. Her childhood
and currentcrush is Magnai after all.In terms of themes, I am a fan of dark/mature tones. Slice of life is fun too, I just would like for there to be some substance to it.
Flirting is great, but I'm just too inexperienced to do any kind of ERP. I'm not against it, just not there yet.
Feel free to contact me if you're interested in talking about characters or RP! You can find me @_xaela on Twitter or indigopyxis on Discord. To speak a bit about myself:
I'm a 22 year old bisexual trans man, and pretty much all my characters fall under the LGBTQ spectrum.
I'm autistic and suck really bad at socializing. That being said I try very earnestly to connect with people!!
I'm in PST (Pacific Time Zone AKA West Coast) but I tend to stay up late.
I'm on Seraph but don't mind traveling.
18+ only, please.
I do my best to be as nonjudgmental as possible. I won't judge you if you make spelling mistakes, get dates wrong, reply slow, etc. We're all human. Real life always comes first. Please never feel bad for setting boundaries or getting busy.
I'm painfully shy and take a long time to get back to people because I get distracted easily. I also leave Sarangerel AFK allll the time while I go do IRL things.
